Last week I had the pleasure to introduce our test GorillaPod Original. This week I present the GorillaPod Video.
Worthy member of the family GorillaPod, the Video has the same adjustable legs and flexible than his siblings. The basic principle remains the same.
The particular element, the point of interest is its GorillaPod Video fluid head with adjustable positioning arm.
Combining practice, therefore GorillaPod Video combines the flexibility of the Original with the necessary control to camera movement used in video. Convenience key: the positioning arm may, with the push of a button, be reoriented to facilitate movement. Well done, anywhere!
Being a direct descendant of the Original Gorillapod, Video will only accept video cameras ultra feather weight, it can accommodate a maximum of 325 grams of a camera.
In testing, we found that this limit was a bit optimistic. We tested the minitrépied with a Sony Bloggie first generation (read: HD pocket camcorder a bit clumsy) and it proved to be too heavy for the fluid head. When left alone on the tripod, the camera will soon move from vertical to horizontal position. Rather disturbing.
So I contacted the people Daymen to know what was going on and it seems that the weight limit of GorillaPod Video is more around 225, 250 grams. This weight limit intended when the tripod to be used with Flip HD Xacti camcorders and other handheld.
Finally, the GorillaPod Video ultrapolyvalent is a product and a brilliant concept, provided that your camcorder is light enough.
